The Product Design phase has ended and now it’s time to sum up.
The Injection Design Award is aimed at developing a new accessory for the office from the concept to the packaging that include the production technology “One Shot”, patented by Uniteam-Italia.

In the last months we collected almost 200 new ideas, solutions and design projects, involving in the design process hundreds of people from all over the world. The winning concept of the first phase was Wave, a desk pad that works as mouse pad and desk organizer.

This concept has been interpreted in a detailed and engineering-related advanced way by 39 designers and creative talents, and their proposals have been assessed by a team of Uniteam-Italia’s technicians, that verified the feasibility of each project. After this preliminary analysis, the client has taken into account the consistency with the guidelines listed in the brief.

Among the entries submitted, Uniteam-Italia has selected one winner and 7 projects that, together with the Honorable Mentions of the first phase, will be displayed in their headquarters showroom at the end of the contest.

 

1st PRIZE – One-Shot Specialist

MouseStand by lexio aka Alessio Rocchi (Italy)

Award: 1250,00 €

  Technical analysis: Despite of a little undercut in the last curved part (where the tablet should stand) it is possible to avoid hydraulic movements in the injection moulding process, reducing significantly the production costs. It is correct to reduce the thickness of the area where the product bends, but it would be better to make this recess of rubber in order to ease the movement. It will be necessary to verify the real stability of the product when it is used as tablet stand, however after an overall analysis we can consider MouseStand feasible and its production does not present significant issues. 

Client comment: MouseStand perfectly follows the brief guidelines. It combines the strong points of the concept Wave (simplicity, versatility, minimal design) with the potentiality of our injection moulding process “One Shot”. Moreover lexio managed to add a new feature taking up a minimal amount of space, and that means for us low shipment costs.
