Winner announcement: it’s time for us to show you the winning project of 3M for Design, the international call for entries launched in collaboration with 3M, aimed at finding new applications for their adhesive systems.

In particular, the challenge was focused on three main product typologies:

– Lighting (lamps, for indoors, for outdoors, etc.)
– Furnishing (chairs, tables, wardrobes, etc.)
– Homeware & Interiors (objects for indoor decoration, furnishing accessories, etc.)

Participants were invited to explore the characteristics and qualities of the 3M adhesive systems –  3M™ VHB Tapes, 3M™ Dual Lock™ and Structural adhesives – and to show how these could be employed in various products, in place of traditional mechanical fixing methods (screws, rivets, soldering, etc.).

The results were really interesting, involving 120 designers from +30 countries around the world, for a total of 154 submitted projects.

After going through each and every single submission, the 3M team also shared the shortlist with the application engineers who eventually selected the winning project based also on the technical feasibility of the project.
